He is an American who's Grandmother was born in the city of Riga, Latvia and then stopped into Suvalki, Poland before arriving at Ellis Island in New York City. Her father was born in present day Belarus. Living in small towns such as Zdiecol and Dzyatlava. Ruddie is a distant relative to the Bielski brothers who spent time during WW II leading a resistant group in the forests with Rae Kushner. Richart Ruddie's father's side of his family immigrated from present day Lviv Oblast in Western Ukraine being known as a Galician.
